ShiftCare relies on staff calendar to work out availability of a staff for a particular shift. A staff is unavailable if:

  • Staff has an approved leave which clashes with shift times
  • Staff has been approved non-working day which clashes with shift times
  • Staff is double booked i.e. staff is working on another shift at similar times

In all of the conditions above, staff is marked as double booked. Therefore, if staff is double booked, then ShiftCare will not let you book while editing the shift. In image below, George Smith is disabled (unavailable) because he is double booked into another shift.

However, if staff is booked into a shift and then becomes unavailable e.g. his/her leave request got approved, then staff member will marked as red on shift.
