Modifying a Recurring shift

You may have a regular client that needs recurring caregiving services on Shiftcare. Let’s say, two caregivers are scheduled for this client every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. What if this client requests to make changes to the schedule and make it Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays instead? Or make it fortnightly instead of weekly?

We can’t actually change an existing recurrence on Shiftcare, but we’ll be glad to walk you through an easy workaround!

In this article, we’ll walk you through how this is done. We’ll divide this into two sections: [1] Copying recurring shift details, and [2] Deleting the outdated recurring shift.

Let’s get started.

Copying recurring shift details

  1. Open the scheduler.

  2. Select one of the recurring shifts.

  3. A menu will open on the right side of your screen, click More actions on the top right.

  4. Select Copy.

  5. On the pop-up window, choose Recurring shifts.

  6. Click Confirm.

  7. A new shift is then created and remains in edit mode. The same settings as the shift you had copied are entered into this shift for you to adjust as needed. Scroll down to the Time and Location section.

  8. You can now change the details as needed. In this case, you can uncheck Mon, Wed and Fri and check Tues, Thurs, and Sat instead.

  9. Note that you can also change other details, such as the time, recurrence, end date, and so on.

  10. Click Save when you’re done.

Deleting the outdated recurring shift

As you can see on the Scheduler, you have 2 recurring shifts:

Old recurring shift on Mon/Wed/Fri

New recurring shift on Tue/Thu/Sat

Since the Mon/Wed/Fri schedule is now outdated, we’ll need to delete this.

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Open the scheduler.

  2. Click on any of the recurring shifts for the outdated group. We’ll choose Monday here.

  3. Click More actions.

  4. Select Delete.

  5. On the pop-up window, select Future shifts. You can even choose an earlier end date if needed.

  6. Click Confirm.

You’re done! You’re now left with the Tue/Thu/Sat shifts on the scheduler:
