Two Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds a layer of protection to your account by requiring a second verification step beyond your password.

Written by Paul Slater

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your ShiftCare account by requiring both your password and a verification code during login.

This guide includes:

How to Enable 2FA

Follow these steps to enable 2FA for your account:

  1. Log in to your account at https://app.shiftcare.com.

  2. Click on your profile name on the top right of the screen and select 'Profile'.

  3. At the bottom of the screen, click 'Enable Two Factor Authentication'.

  4. Enter your password.

  5. Check your email inbox for your verification code (may take a couple of minutes to arrive).

  6. Enter the code.

Logging in With 2FA Enabled

Once 2FA is enabled, you’ll need to verify your login each time you access ShiftCare. This ensures only authorised users can access your account.

  1. Log in to your account at https://app.shiftcare.com.

  2. Check your email inbox for the verification code.

  3. Enter your verification code.

Logging in to the Mobile App With 2FA Enabled

When using the mobile app, you’ll also need to complete 2FA verification.

  1. Open your mobile app.

  2. Make sure that you select the correct server.

    • 'Global' is the Australian server.

  3. Log in to your account.

    • If you get the incorrect username or password error, please use the "eye" button/icon to view the password you entered, just in case you missed one or two characters that need to be in uppercase.

  4. Check your email inbox for your verification code.

  5. Enter your verification code in the mobile app's Verify Code section.

Requiring 2FA for Staff Members

Enabling this feature enforces 2FA for all staff accounts to enhance security and protect sensitive data.

For UK accounts, this setting is mandatory and cannot be turned off due to GDPR compliance requirements.

  1. Navigate to Account > Settings in the sidebar menu.

  2. Scroll down to Security and click 'Edit'.

  3. Toggle 'Require 2FA for all staff accounts' on and choose the appropriate verification method: email or SMS (coming soon). Click 'Save'.
