Managing Webster Packs and Pill Boxes in ShiftCare

Learn how to track Webster pack and pill box medication by creating a reusable medication entry and client-specific plans.

Webster Packs and pill boxes are pre-packed medication sets that organise a client’s tablets into time-of-day doses, which ShiftCare’s Medication Management feature can record and track.

This guide explains the recommended workflow and how to set up medication plans for clients who use Webster-paks, blister packs, sachets, or pill boxes.

Note: Medication Management is available on Premium plans only. For all new accounts, a default 'Webster Pack' medication is automatically created and published to save time during setup.

Enabling Medication Management

Creating a Global "Webster Pack" Medication

To support pill-box workflows, we recommend creating a standard medication entry called "Webster Pack" (or "Pill Box") that can be reused across multiple clients.

  1. Navigate to eMAR Medication Management from the sidebar menu and click 'New Medication'.

  2. Fill in the New Medication window with placeholders such as:

    • Medication Name: Webster Pack (or equivalent)

    • Brand Name: Multiple

    • Form: Tablet

    • Default Route: Oral (PO)

    • Strength Value / Unit: 1 g

    • Schedule Class: Un-schedule

    • Notes: Used to record AM/PM doses taken from the client’s Webster Pack or pill box.

  3. Click 'Save'.

Note: These entries are just sample placeholders.

This creates one reusable medication entry that can be applied to all clients using Webster Packs or pill boxes.

Setting Up Medication Plans for Clients

Each client who uses a Webster Pack or pill box system will need their own Medication Plan.

  1. Navigate to Clients > List, then select the client.

  2. Open the Medication Plans tab and click 'Add Medication Plan'.

  3. Select the Webster Pack (or equivalent) medication you created above, then fill in the necessary details.

  4. Click 'Save'.

The client’s Medication Plan will now appear in their schedule for carers to complete. This ensures pill box systems are tracked consistently, even though they contain multiple medications grouped into one dose.
