All automated systems (such as those in your phone and computer) detect different time zones based on location. This includes detecting any changes in time (such as Daylight Savings). ShiftCare uses the same method. In ShiftCare this time detection is determined by the time zone selected in your account settings:

NSW, VIC, SA, ACT, TAS and Norfolk Island recognise Daylight Saving Time which begins at 2 am on the first Sunday in October, when clocks are put forward one hour for Spring. It ends at 2 am (which is 3 am Daylight Saving Time) on the first Sunday in April, when clocks are put back one hour, for Autumn.

QLD, NT, WA, Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands do not use day light savings, however, a setting on the phones can mean that the shifts appear an hour different to the scheduled time - if your team is reporting this please see the article:

The impact of daylight saving time on your invoicing and timesheets

The following screenshots show examples of when daylight savings changes. ShiftCare will handle the change in times and automatically adjust accordingly, for example a 10 am shift will remain at 10 am regardless of the changed time.

Scheduling over the change in daylight saving time

Shifts crossing the October time change - Spring - will result in 25 hours in the day.

Shifts crossing the April time change - Autumn/Fall - will result in 23 hours in the day.

Invoicing over the change in daylight saving time

When billing you will find the number of hours in a day will change to accommodate the change to daylight savings.

Spring - will result in 25 hours in the day.

Autumn/Fall - will result in 23 hours in the day.

Timesheets over the change in daylight saving time

Staff time will also adjust according to the number of hours in a day relevant to the check changes.

Spring - will result in 25 hours in the day.

Autumn/Fall - will result in 23 hours in the day.
