Rostering Staff for Office or Admin Work, Meetings, and Training

Learn how to roster staff for office work, admin tasks, meetings, and training sessions using shift types and client profiles.

It’s common to have staff who work in the office or support clients indirectly. These staff members may also need to be rostered for office or admin work, meetings, or training sessions.

However, for a shift to be marked as booked (rather than pending) in the Scheduler, both a staff member and a client must be assigned to it.

In this situation, you can create a client named "Office" or "Admin"; something that makes sense to your team.

You can then create shifts for your office staff using this client.

It's also recommended to add a new shift type named "Office" or "Admin" so it stands out in your roster. This way, you can distinguish which shifts are support-related and which ones are office or admin-related.

This can be done through Account > Settings > Shift Types. Click the 'Edit' button to add a shift type.

Click 'Add new shift type'.

Fill out the shift type name, external ID, and the shift type colour for easier identification. Click 'Save' after all the changes have been made.

Additionally, you might want to add a "No Charge" price or rate, which will allow you to work out how much office time costs the business.
