ShiftCare offers the option to email or send an SMS directly to clients from the platform.

Bulk Messaging Clients
Bulk SMS messages or emails can be sent to clients through the client list page.
First, navigate to Clients > List from the sidebar menu.
On the top right-hand side of the screen, select the 'Bulk Email' or 'Bulk SMS' options.
Please take note that there is a cost to send SMS messages. Additionally, SMS messages should be 150 characters or fewer.
Once you've selected an option, a pop-up window will appear, allowing you to choose one or more clients to receive the SMS or email. You can also tick the 'Select All' box to include all the clients in your account.
After choosing the recipients, fill out the subject line and the message box. Make sure to click 'Send' once you've finished composing your message.
A confirmation pop-up will appear to let you know the email has been sent successfully.
✉️ The Bulk Email feature will send the emails as if they were individually sent (similar to BCC). This means the recipients will not be able to see who else has received the message.
Bulk SMS messages can only be sent by those with Admin roles.
Messaging Individual Clients
You can also send SMS messages and email clients from the Communications page.
To access the page, go to the sidebar menu and navigate to Clients > List. This will take you to the client list page, where you can select the specific client whose communications you want to view.
Selecting a client will bring up their profile and a new drop-down menu (client drop-down menu) on the left-hand side of the page. Select Communications from the client drop-down menu.
This will bring up the client's Communications page. The SMS and Email features can be found at the top right of the page.
When Email or SMS is selected, a dialogue box will appear. After typing your message, make sure to click 'Send' before leaving the Communications page. Otherwise, the message will not be delivered to the client.
Click 'Cancel' if you wish to no longer send the SMS/email.
Depending on your notification settings, you might also be getting emails each time staff add notes to a shift. You can forward these emails to your client.
Emailing Progress Notes to the Client
Using the page's email feature, you can send your client their progress notes via email.
Step 1 - Save the notes as a PDF file.
Step 2 - From the Communications page, create an email and attach the PDF file using the 'Choose files' button. Click 'Send' after composing the email and attaching the files.
SMS Replies
Clients can reply to SMS messages sent to them via their Communications page. The SMS reply they send is shown as a notification on the app if the admin has the app installed.
The SMS reply is also sent as an email to the admin who sent the message.
Clicking the 'here' button in the email displays the reply in the client's Communications page.
Email Replies
When an admin sends an email to a client, the message is saved in the client's Communications page. If the client replies, the reply remains an email and goes to the sender's inbox.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can I attach files in bulk emails for clients?
At the moment, file attachments are only supported when sending individual emails within the app. This feature is not currently available for bulk emails sent to clients.
